9/13: Gallery Snapshots

I like this pairing: Rebecca's Susan Traci, Bow Reflection II beside Farrell's Drop. These two have been beside each other for probably a couple of weeks, but we moved the walls for last week's First Friday, and the emphasis changed.

I really meant for this photo to show the sunflowers we've had in our front window for the past few days, but now I see that it's another Farrell & Rebecca pairing: Royal Tar and Green Stripe. Green Stripe recently found a new home. The sunflowers are cut from beside Farrell's forge. I wouldn't recommend that artists bring flowers to get the attention of gallerists; you'll be expected to keep bringing them.

Wendy Turner, Maureen Mainen and Philip Koch. Koch just sent me an ART in Embassies catalogue for a show that includes his paintings at the US embassy in the Republic of Congo. I think part of the idea for the program is that maybe the art of a country says something about its people that perhaps ambassadors can't easily say. If that's the case, there's plenty in the pages of Art in America that might be more likely to induce warfare. Koch is a good choice.
