Frederica Marshall is a painter living in Deer Isle. She studied painting at Miami University and Michigan State University, as well as years of individual study with teachers in Japan.Marshall’s painting style is heavily influenced by her 28 years living in Japan, where she studied sumi-e (oriental brush painting). She often combines this with western watercolor techniques as well as other media, including acrylics and airbrush for a unique fusion of style and method, which she applies to the Maine landscape.
Exhibiting since 1973, Marshall has won numerous awards for her painting and has taught since 1976.
